Epistles From the Editor

Dear Readers of PCN,

So we say good-bye to the summer, but not to the summer heat. The children are going back to school while the adults wished they had gotten a summer break. A break from bills, hassles, work, stress and everything else that makes us tick. Did the summer seem to fly by? It did for me. I am glad that the Lord never takes a break. Can you imagine the Lord of the Universe turning His back on us for one second? The sun not rising, the moon refusing to shine, the birds not being able to sing, the plant life withering, the planet stops spinning? Our God is an awesome God. He holds the world in His hands, and yet He desires to rest in our hearts. "Behold I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear my voice, I will come in with him and sup with Him and he with Me." - Revelations 3:20
Open your door and let Him in; have dinner with Him and hear His plans. For He says, "I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you, to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 My hope for you is that you will find some of the ingredients you will need to have a sit down dinner with God, in this month's issue.
Pull out your knife and fork and dive into a relationship with the Lord! Remember He's waiting...

Sincerely Your Sister in Christ,
Cassandra E. Philogene

I lost him to whence he came.
The Maker of all had said this would happen on the time He would frame.

The wisest of them all said that those who went there knew nothing. But before he went I knew he knew everything.

His body had yet chilled and they approached. Each one telling of my husbands debt and my reproach.

Only a pair I had now holding on to my hem. Two to carry on his name. But what could it matter now that they threaten to take them?

So I went to the man with the double portion. He would have to tell me what to do, to repay this fortune.

His plan was insane, yet so desperate was I, it made perfect sense. So the three of us did all he asked. While others tried to look over the fence.

As they filled up and sold out, my soul found peace. For now no man could take my sons from the folds of my crease.

I am _______.

Missing Piece(s)

..

I was watching a program, and in the program a man asked: What if obese persons got heckled like smokers do? That really hit me. When we see people smoking on the street we, who are health reformers and caring citizens, we who claim to have the message of the Living Lord, who state that our bodies are His temple, and we are to herald His message to all the world, see persons smoking we get a sense of righteous indignation and scoff at them. If they contract a disease because of their habits we rarely take pity on them. "They did it to themselves."
Do we feel the same about those who are obese? Yes we do. We do not vocally express what we are thinking because it is not politically correct and or polite. How do we address this epidemic that is the leading cause of death in America. It has surpassed smoking related deaths. Heart disease is the number one killer amongst African Americans.
When do we take responsibility and say no! Yes, we are to spread the gospel and the good news to all persons. Imagine that you are on the outside of the church and someone approaches you and try's to explain the gospel to you while smoking a cigarette. Now imagine that same person without the cigarette, but with large fries in their hands. What would be the difference?
If the ones in the church are doing the same thing that they are doing, why go in there to begin with? What really is the missing piece?

Starting over again...
A silence takes over the audience. They are now lining up. Their gowns nice and pressed, there faces lit and their hearts pounding. Faces in the crowd look for the familiar face of the dynamic director. He is no where to be found. Is he ill? Is this perhaps why Anointed Praise has not sung in a few months? Perhaps they where taking a break? Or maybe... Peoples' minds are moving to and fro attempting to comprehend the changes on their faces.
A young woman comes forward and she motions to the choir. They respond to her instinctively. Her arms are raised and now so are they. The crowd is a bit confused. Who is she and where is their rambunctious director? They open their mouths and the sound is captivating. The Spirit fills the sanctuary and the youth can feel that by the grace of God, they are back.
Where had they gone to begin with?
The pew warms shift in their seats as a young man comes forward and apprehends a microphone. He begins to tell of the struggle of Anointed Praise. The persons looking back at him are astonished. Could Satan be attacking the Youth so? The answer he explains to them before their thoughts finish formulating.
The Lord has brought a new director in their lives. She is acknowledged and flowers are given to her. She blushes and the audience gushes. All the musicians receive tokens of gratitude from the grateful choir. The Lord kept them when no one wanted them. What a testimony to all. Sing Anointed, sing.

Welcome back AP, welcome back...

What If...- Cassandra E. Philogene

I visited a church last Sabbath. No one there knew me, but as I walked in I felt as if I had grown up these people and that they loved me. They did not know who I was, and that did not stop them from giving me a great big hug and let me know "I'm so happy your here!"

I was happy that I was there. The music was fantastic, the sermon engaging. But the fellowship was AMAZING. This is what Christ spoke about when He said "They will know you are my disciples by the love you have for each other."

Love. Those persons who welcomed me into their arms did not show me love because of my place in society, or because of the clothing I wore. They were simply living out the commands of Christ. Jesus said 'If you love Me, keep my commandments.' Did He not also state that these are the commandments 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and your neighbor as yourself'? If we love through the eyes of Christ, how different could our lives be? Our Jobs? Our Church? Our homes?
Fall is coming in October. Our pews will be filled with beautiful dressed persons coming to enjoy a praise and glory good time. What if our pews where filled with people wanting to do the work of the Lord? What if we filled our pews with persons searching for a greater love, because you led them with the love you had, into church?
We must be careful that we not lose our first love. And that we become too comfortable in our success that the Lord wants to spit us out. Let us be on fire for Him. Let us go out of our way and Love!
What if when we saw a person that we had never seen before grace the doors of the church and we just hugged them, just because. What if we said more than just hello to our neighbors when we saw them?
We could play the game what if all day, but how is this one for size. What if when Christ was dying on the cross He decided that you where not worth it?
